JORO-3D-Kantling

True shape scanner

Measuring squared timber and modules

JORO-3D-Kantling is a true shape scanner for the sawmill for measuring squared timber and modules. The measuring system recognises the decisive transition for the subsequent processing steps between sawn or raked surfaces and the adjoining wanes. These transition points (wane points) are particularly important for the computer-aided optimisation of sawn timber yield. Together with further contour data, all measuring points are stored in individual profile discs and transmitted to the sawmill control in real time. Likewise, all other relevant characteristics, such as length, volume, taper, sweep, and the displacement of the wane from the centre of the squared timber can be measured. This system is used, for example, in the sawmill after a chipper to optimise the yield of the main and side products in subsequent operations.
